Your property information

Information entered into MySepticCheck may relate to a property as well as to you personally.

You should only upload information and documents that are relevant to your property check and that you are entitled to provide.

If someone purchases a Seller Pack gift for a property, we use the purchaser\'s email address and the property address to process payment and issue the private gift link. The seller claims the gift through their own account. The purchaser does not automatically receive access to the seller\'s answers or documents.

Who we may share information with

We do not sell your personal information.

We may use trusted service providers to help operate MySepticCheck, such as website hosting, database, email, security and payment service providers.

These currently include Stripe for payment processing, Resend for service emails, and our hosting, database and private file-storage suppliers. Payment-card details are entered directly on Stripe's checkout service and are not stored by MySepticCheck.

If you expressly request professional help, the property address, postcode, contact details and request information you provide may be shared with an approved property or drainage professional so they can respond. We do not share a professional-help request unless you actively submit it and confirm the sharing notice shown on the form.

These providers may process information only where necessary to provide their services to us and subject to appropriate data protection arrangements.

We may also disclose information where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

International processing

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will take appropriate steps to ensure those safeguards are in place.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including providing the service, maintaining appropriate business records and meeting legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it is being held.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, so you should also keep your MySepticCheck password confidential and use a strong, unique password.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights including the right to:

  • Ask for access to your personal information
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete information in certain circumstances
  • Ask us to restrict how information is used
  • Object to certain uses of your information
  • Request transfer of certain information where applicable
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise your rights, email support@mysepticcheck.co.uk .

If you have concerns about how we use your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve them.

You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.

We may update this Privacy Policy as MySepticCheck develops or where legal requirements change.
